| Components of the C-Leg |
|
The C-Leg is one of the most exciting inovations lately, and may mark the future of prosthetic developments. It is a "smart" leg which can learn as a patient progresses in walking skills and can "learn" and adapt to situations. Be aware that this unit won't walk for you. No prostheis does.
Clinical feed back is still mixed at this time, due to its cost and reimbusement by insurance as well as having competitive older technologies that are less expensive. From a cosmetic standpoint it is not as desireable to finish at this point as I would like. Insurance information on this site may help patients win their cases if they are seeking this new technology. Don't let your insurance company keep you from care that you are entitled to. You paid for it!

| The Harmony pylon component is used to create vacuum |
|
| The Harmony System uses suction to suspend a prosthesis on the patient. A more intimate fit improves overall weight bearing, control of the prosthesis and a more reliable means of holding the prosthesis on. The pylon (at right) is a componet that is attached below the socket with a compatable prosthetic foot below that. The unit it integrated with the socket to generate vacum within the socket when combined with the other components in the system. The video below gives a detailed demonstration of that systems appilcation and everyday use.
